Cruiseports

Many CRTE residents enjoy taking cruises on ships leaving from Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) or from the Port of Miami. About two million passengers per year access cruise ships in Port Everglades and another two million passengers access ships in the Port of Miami. These two ports are the world's largest cruise ports.

Both ports are accessible by car, cab, and share-a-ride. Port Everglades is about a 20 minute ride from CRTE. The Port of Miami is about 45 minutes when the I-95 freeway is relatively empty (before 5 am weekdays) and can take as long as 2 hours during peak weekday congestion periods. Weekend travel tends to work much better.

Parking is available at both ports but the cost may be quite high and should be considered as a last resort.

Security. Security is tight at all cruiseports. Be prepared with necessary documentation like government issued picture ID's (drivers license, passports). Your car may be searched and cruise passengers are required to undergo security checks similar to the airports. On returning from your cruise, processing through US Immirgation and US Customs is mandatory. Check with your cruise line to determine the exact requirements long before you take your cruise.
