In order to prevent mildew, set your thermostat to the appropriate temperature.
Turn off your circcuit breakers, where appropriate (for example, the hot water heater). Be sure to leave the air conditioner circuit breakers on!
Remove all food from the refrigerator, open the doors and leave them open. Be sure to turn off the refrigerator circuit breaker and/or remove the plug from the wall.
Checklist
Here is a checklist for closing up your apartment for long periods of time. If you are leaving your car on the premises, please so indicate to the CRTE office.

- Set thermostat per instructions on your unit
- Turn off circuit breaker to hot water heater
- Turn off refrigerator and then leave refrigerator doors open
- Put ice maker arm up and turn off water valve to ice maker
- Do not leave opened boxes and jars in cabinets
- Make sure windows and doors are secure
- Move all balcony furniture inside
- Leave closet and cabinet doors open slightly
- Notify post office to forward or hold mail
- Notify newspapers to discontinue delivery
- Notify security
- Take your CRTE key fob with you
- Check with the office for other questions you may have
