Entrance to CRTE NW guest parking area
How to get to CRTE from - |
I-95. Exit at Oakland Park Boulevard heading east towards the ocean. Stay on Oakland Park Boulevard several miles eventually going over the drawbridge which crosses the intracoastal waterway. Oakland Park Boulevard ends at the traffic light after you cross the drawbridge. Take a left at that traffic light onto state route A1A. Head north on SR A1A and take another left at the 3rd traffic light onto NE 36th Street. CRTE visitor parking is the 5th driveway down the left side of the street. Park along the yellow curbs ONLY and then register with CRTE security or your car will be towed.
The Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport. Although there are many possible routes, the most scenic is to take US 1 North a short distance and then hang a right at SE 17th Street (a sign will point to A1A at that intersection). Eventually you will go onto the imposing SE 17th Street Causeway overlooking Port Everglades. The roadway then feeds directly into A1A North. Continue by following the A1A heading north directions below.
A1A heading north. If you are heading north along A1A from Miami Beach, Hallandale, Hollywood, Dania, the most scenic route is to take A1A and US1. A1A merges with US1 in Dania and stays that way past the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport. Hang a right at SE 17th Street which is less than a mile north of the airport - a sign will point to A1A at the SE 17th Street intersection. Eventually you will go onto the imposing SE 17th Street Causeway overlooking Port Everglades. The roadway then feeds directly into A1A North. Continue going north on A1A along Fort Lauderdale beach crossing Sunrise Blvd., recognized by a double left hand turn lane. Continue on A1A going past Oakland Park Blvd., which is also easily recognized by the double left hand turn lane. Continue northbound on A1A a short distance until the 3rd traffic light. Make a left at the 3rd traffic light onto NE 36th Street. CRTE visitor parking is the 5th driveway down the left side of the street. Park along the yellow curbs ONLY and then register with CRTE security or your car will be towed.
A1A heading south. If you are heading south along A1A from the Palm Beaches, Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Pompano or Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, continue heading south on A1A past Commercial Blvd. Commercial Blvd. is easily recognized by the fact that A1A squeezes all southbound A1A traffic into a long single lane while leaving an equally long single lane open for right hand turns onto Commercial. Continue on A1A and soon after passing Commercial Blvd., A1A opens up to a 6 lane tree-lined street. A short distance along A1A will bring you to NE 36th Street which has a traffic light at the intersection. Take a right onto NE 36th Street. CRTE visitor parking is the 5th driveway down the left side of the street. Park along the yellow curbs ONLY and then register with CRTE security or your car will be towed.
Naples, Fort Myers, Tampa. Take I-75 south and then cross alligator alley in the Everglades. Follow the overhead signs to Fort Lauderdale which will put you onto I-595. Stay on I-595 until you see signs for I-95 north. Take I-95 north and follow the directions under I-95 at the top of the page. Or if you prefer a more scenic approach to Fort Lauderdale, stay on I-595 until it ends rather abruptly, being careful to follow the signs to US 1 north on the right side of the final exit. On entering US 1 north, move left a couple of lanes or you will be forced into a street which forces a right hand turn which should be avoided. Go north and follow the signs to A1A which requires a right turn onto the SE 17th Street causeway. Follow the directions under A1A heading North.
Florida's Turnpike heading south. If you are coming from Georgia and northern Florida, exit at #62 and follow signs to SR 870 east which is Commercial Blvd. Go east several miles. Go over the drawbridge across the intracoastal waterway and take a right at the traffic light at the intersection of A1A and Commercial. Shortly after taking the right onto A1A, A1A opens up to a 6 lane tree-lined street. A short distance along A1A will bring you to NE 36th Street which has a traffic light at the intersection. Take a right onto NE 36th Street. CRTE visitor parking is the 5th driveway down the left side of the street. Park along the yellow curbs and then register with CRTE security or your car will be towed.
Florida's Turnpike heading north. If you are coming from the Keys and Miami, exit at #58 and follow signs to SR 838 east which is Sunrise Blvd. Go east several miles staying on Sunrise and follow the signs to A1A. Take a left onto A1A and continue north along Fort Lauderdale Beach. Go past Oakland Park Blvd., which is easily recognized by the double left hand turn lane, until the 3rd traffic light. Make a left at the 3rd traffic light onto NE 36th Street. CRTE visitor parking is the 5th driveway down the left side of the street. Park along the yellow curbs and then register with CRTE security or your car will be towed.
