Each apartment has a cable which feeds the signal to your TV or HDTV. Beginning in 2011 every TV must also be connected to a free Comcast adapter or extra charge DTV or HDTV box.

OK. I connect the HDTV to the cable box to the cable antennae, use the electronic T-switch to allow the HDTV indoor antennae to supplement the cable signal, program the PC to allow storage of the HDTV-PC link at the pre-programmed time, then download the podcast to my iPod using iTunes. "Grandma, where is the universal remote with the embedded chip? And I need my iPad to get the program schedules."

HDTV

Summary. Every CRTE apartment has access to Comcast cable TV and the charge for this is included in the monthly maintenance our homeowners. Nothing need be done other than plug in your TV or HDTV into the cable present in each and every apartment. Each apartment is pre-wired for 2 outlets and receives the Limited Basic plus the Expanded Basic package from Comcast. The cable supports both the older analog TV and newer HDTV. All TV's will need free adapter boxes or extra charge DTV or HDTV boxes (for services beyond those stated above) beginning in 2011.

Beginning in 2011 all Comcast subscribers in Broward County will need adapter boxes (free) or extra charge DTV or HDTV boxes.

Channel Lineup. Comcast frequently changes the channel lineup. If you wish to see available channels at CRTE and also checkout additional packages available from Comcast, kindly click the icon below. Or get the latest TV listings by downloading apps from your iPhone, iPad or Android smartphone.

INTERACTIVE ICON. You can get the latest scoop on available channels (HDTV and otherwise) by clicking the Comcast icon above. That click will send you to the Comcast web site. It will then take a little poking around to find whatever you may wish to discover but it is worth the effort to understand the site.

DTV signals through your own indoor antenna. Most HDTV sets are equipped with lots of user-controlled switches, both physical and electronic (the latter usually found by poking around with the menu button on the remote). If you opt to buy your own indoor digital antenna, it is possible to have a combo package of your own design. Some channels may come through the cable, some through the air. Many DTV signals including HDTV can be accessed both ways.

PC's with digital tuners. Many PC's now come equipped with digital tuners imbedded in the keyboard. These PC's can pickup DTV signals via the cable and via air using their own special antenna.

Shown is an HP Entertainment Series PC. Look closely on the left end of the keyboard. A removable remote is imbedded there. That remote can trigger a DTV signal (including HDTV) on the PC screen. The PC can be used to watch and download DTV signals with the cable and/or via air with appropriate antenna.

Broadband. Should you also opt for Comcast broadband internet service, the signal will come through the same cable as the TV/HDTV cable. There are often special rates if the HDTV and internet are bundled; snowbird options may be available. A Comcast techie may need to come to your apartment to tweak the various signals.
